車上出生的女子，花蓮Cilo'ohay人，喜歡坐長途列車，把沿途景色當作電影欣賞，視為生活的喘息。

因為爸爸喜歡拍攝家庭影帶，時常成為影帶中的主角，從世新大學轉念台灣藝術大學電影系後，開始接觸影像，隨著影像紀錄器材普及化，每年部落Ilisin(年祭)時拿起DV拍攝，一年一年的觀察，產生許多疑問。大學畢業後進入南藝音像紀錄研究所就讀，正式開始拍攝影片，為了找尋部落認同以及自己的各種疑問，拍攝之影片皆跟自身有關。

Kawah Umei comes from Cilo'ohay, a Pangcah community in Hualien, Taiwan. She has always enjoyed train rides for their cinematic scenery. 

Her father enjoyed filming family videos and often became the protagonist in them, I switched from Shih Hsin University to Department of Motion Picture,NTUA. This marked the beginning of my journey into the world of film. As video recording equipment became more accessible, I began using DV cameras to document our tribe's annual Ilisin Festival, observing year by year and generating many questions. After graduating from university, I enrolled in the Graduate Institute of Documentary & Film Archiving, TNNUA, officially starting to make films. This has deepened her understanding of identity.

Pangcah / 台灣馬太鞍部落。喜歡影像、喜歡閱讀，青少年時期家裡有一台V8，大學時都翹課到圖書館看紀錄片，長期參與台灣原住民族主權運動、還我土地運動、LGBTQ+運動。現職紀錄片製片、導演、藝術行政、社運工作者。

Pangcah / Fata'an tribe in Taiwan. I like videos and reading. When I was a teenager, I had a V8 at home. When I was in college, I skipped class to go to the library to watch documentaries. I have long been involved in Taiwan indigenous sovereignty movement, the land return movement, and the LGBTQ+ movement. Currently working as a documentary producer, director, arts administrator, and social activist.
